The Challenge - Business Game

Challenge

The Challenge is a business game aimed at providing practical demonstrations of teamwork and the application of Continuous Improvement.

Using this simple tool, teams have been able to fully understand the application of continuous improvement and teambuilding and have been able to apply it themselves back in the workplace.

  • The Challenge is a new and original activity that gets across the crucial message that everyone is part of the company team and has an active part to play in the development of the business.
  • The Challenge creates a greate atmosphere. Participants experience first hand the need to work together to create a Win Win culture

The team is responsible for the salvation of a business currently failing to meet its customers' requirements in terms of quality and supply. They must plan the manufacture and sales of high tech products to satisfy customer demands and meet stringent quality requirements.

From the appointment of a management team and the allocation of new roles for the workforce, everyone is required to take responsibility for the success of the new business.

As a team they must work out the right decisions, recognise how to monitor performance and develop a culture committed to improving quality for the benefit of the company. They will have to cope with peer pressure, presures imposed by outside sources, and of course the greatest pressure, time.

The team will plan new ideas, then sell those new concepts and ways of working to those directly affected, making the benefits to be gained clear to everyone.

Tough decisions have to be made, costs examined and finally profits declared!

Meetings become focused as participants pour over ideas and explore the potential before decisions are made.

Motivation is fired by realism as participants become fully immersed in the Challenge.

The Challenge requires:

  • Good teamwork
  • Communication skills
  • Problem solving skills

These are developed throughout the game to complete the task and meet the deadline.

To win the game, everyone must work together towards a common goal.

The Objective

  1. To experience the value of teamwork
  2. To understand the methods available for problem solving
  3. To recognise the internal customer

This is achieved by involving all participants in active problem-solving in pursuance of a solution for a struggling business.

  • Practical experience
  • Active discussion and adoption of a structured problem-solving approach
  • Development of new ideas
  • Testing of theory and implementation into practice
